Learn to Dive
Learning to SCUBA dive is one of the most exciting decisions you will ever make! Visit worlds you have only dreamed of, and meet exciting new friends who share your zest for life. Water World has trained Triangle divers for more than thirty years, and we assist with SCUBA training at the major area universities. Allow us to share our enthusiasm for teaching SCUBA diving with you! Our experienced instructional staff has traveled the world diving, and yet the part of diving they enjoy most is helping new divers discover the underwater world!
Here at Water World all of our instruction is done under the guidelines set forth by PADI, the Professional Association of Dive Instructors. We strive to keep class size small to maximize the learning of each student. In addition to limiting the class size, we have extra divemasters in our classes to enhance the learning experience. We offer classes year round. To find out about our current classes and prices, just keep reading and give us a call when you decide to sign up or if you have any further questions.
Can’t find a class schedule that works for you? Call us and we will work out a Custom Class that is flexible for you, your family or friends.
The Process
Becoming a certified diver is a 3 phase process; Academics, Confined Water (Pool) Sessions, and Open Water Certification Dives. To maintain flexibility in scheduling and learning methods, each phase is purchased and scheduled seperately.
Academics
To operate our classes in the safest manner possible, we are currently conducting only eLearning courses. As the COVID pandemic situation changes, we are constantly reassessing and hope to offer book learning classes again soon.
There are 2 options for completing the academic portion of the course; PADI eLearning or Book/Classroom. The eLearning is a great option for those with very restrictive schedules or those traveling where a book may be a less attractive option. While convenient, eLearning is more expensive and in our experience, students tend to retain the knowledge better if read in a book. The second option is of course the book and classroom. Unlike eLearning, the book offers more interaction with your instructor and allows for a more collaborative learning environment which can be very beneficial to many students.
Each option has its own set of benefits and drawbacks. If you have any questions or concerns, our experienced staff will be happy to help guide you to making the right choice for you.
Confined Water (Pool) Sessions
Confined Water is the phase where you actually get into the water with the SCUBA gear and an instructor and actually take your first breaths underwater. This is also where you will learn about assembling and disassembling the gear, caring for the gear, and many skills that you will actually use in your diving.
Open Water Certification Dives
Think of the Open Water Certification Dives as the final practical exam for your certification. Here, you will take the skills you learned in the Confined Water and demonstrate to an instructor that you did in fact learn them and that you can apply them in a real world scenario.
After successful completion of all 3 phases, you will be eligible for certification!
