The Rescue Diver course is one of the most challenging, but fulfilling courses you will ever take. It's one of our personal favorites to teach and be a part of. It is a confidence-building program strongly recommended for all active divers. Through understanding the causes of diver stress and distress, you will learn to prevent and control potentially hazardous situations, and you will find your experience will yield the capabilities to aid other divers. Emphasis is placed on prevention through recognition and good dive planning and practices.
A co-requisite of Rescue is having basic life support / first aid training. You can absolutely reach out to your local rep for this, but we offer our personal experice in our in-depth BLS (or DFA) training.
Situational role playing is utilized, starting with self-help techniques, then moving on to assisting distressed divers, and eventually addressing a complete serious accident management plan. Both in-water skills and land management decision making abilities are developed. Even you will get the opportunity to lead your own emergency scenario!
What You Will Learn
- Develop the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively perform diver rescues and assists, manage diver accident situations, render proper first aid and qualify for PADI Divemaster training.
- While recommended for all divers, it is required for any leadership/professional level courses and is a mandatory part of the PADI Master SCUBA Diver certification.

Prerequisite: Advanced Open Water or Equivalent; CPR and Basic First Aid required before certification. Our Emergency First Responder course is held the first Sunday of the Rescue Diver course to meet the requirements and is available at an additional cost.
